21CCLC

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, along with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Escambia County and Bay County, have recently received a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. This program will assist the Boys & Girls Clubs in their mission: “To inspire and empower all young people and their families, in partnership with our community to achieve their potential to BE GREAT.”

For the next 5 years the 21st CCLC Grant will help students from Pensacola to Panama City, and several points in between, improve academic and artistic skills and discover new abilities after the school day has ended. The focus of this program is to provide expanded cultural and academic enrichment opportunities for children attending Title 1 eligible schools. The 21st CCLC is a key component of the “No Child Left Behind Act.” Through this program the Boys & Girls Clubs are able to offer expanded programs such as Abrakadoodle art classes and music classes with Playground Music.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast has collaborated with selected schools within those counties in order to better serve the children through positive open communication with school day teachers. The 21st CCLC Grant’s purpose is to enable students to meet and exceed state academic standards, as well as, promote healthy lifestyles.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous support we’ve received through this 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant,” said Crawford “Bear” Henley, President, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast. “With this grant we are able to increase and improve our current programs as we continue empowering kids through our programs in academics, good character and healthy lifestyle.“
