BGCEC Annual Awards

Each year Boys & Girls Club youth are nominated by staff members for Club awards recognizing outstanding achievement. The 2009 winners were announced at the BGCEC’s annual awards dinners this February. Congratulations to all of our winners!

The Boys & Girls Club organizational Youth of the Year is Clinnie Brinson.  He is a 17 year old senior at Choctawhatchee High School and has been a Club member since 2006.  Clinnie is a Junior Staff member for the BGCEC, teaching the youth at the Fort Walton Beach Teen Center the finer points of art. He also tutors and mentors the middle school Club members.  He will be traveling to Orlando to represent Okaloosa and Walton Counties at the Boys & Girls Club State Youth of the Year competition in April.  We wish him the best of luck!

The Okaloosa County Teen Center winners are as follows: Youth of the Year - Clinnie Brinson, Girl of the Year - Ashley Ann Rogers, Boy of the Year - Gavi Williams, Sportsman of the Year - Roscoe Morey, Good Citizen of the Year - Jaida Reeves, and Greg Wallace Memorial Award winner - Daizjanae Clay.

The DeFuniak Springs Teen Center winners were as follows: Youth of the Year - Alexander Campbell (13 year old Walton Middle School student), Girl of the Year - Courtney Brown, Boy of the Year - Gerald Gladney, Sportsman of the Year - Lucas Hartfield, and Good Citizen of the Year - Michael Beach.

The Okaloosa County, Denton Blvd. Club winners are: Youth of the Year - Savannah Lowery (10 year old Shalimar Elementary School student), Girl of the Year - Labresha Paschall, Boy of the Year - Tyler Austin, Sportsman of the Year - Jeffery Walker, Good Citizen of the Year - Jakeria Bell, and Greg Wallace Memorial Winner - Thomas Anderson.

The South Walton Club winners were: Youth of the Year - Kaitlyn Arnette (9 year old Butler Elementary School student), Girl of the Year - Catie Updyke, Boy of the Year - Sam Kelly, Sportsman of the Year - Owen Wells, and Good Citizen of the Year - Marissa Brown.

The Meigs SMART Center award winners are: Youth of the Year - Brian Barnes (13 year old Meigs Middle School student), Girl of the Year - Samantha Schultz, Boy of the Year - Allen Bradley, and Good Citizen of the Year - Wesley Powers.

The Ruckel SMART Center award winners are: Girl of the Year - Leah Lunderman, Boy of the Year - Michael Thurber and Good Citizen of the Year - Lucas Steffen.
