Heather G.

Heather received the BGCEC staff of the month for July 2008. She works with the Sunrise Program and opens the Club each morning, but is willing to work a double shift if she is needed even without notice. Heather is very involved within her community and schedules guest speakers from the community to present at the Club. The kids know they can come to her with problems and to seek advice, she is easy to talk to and always ready to listen.

Heather joined the Education Staff at the DeFuniak Springs Boys&Girls Club Teen Center in March of 2008. She received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Unity College in 2003. Heather has also completed graduate course work at the University of Rhode Island and gone through the Northwest Florida State College Educator Preparation Institute. She is eligible to teach science to middle and high school students in Florida.

Why I work with the Club:
I work at the Club because I want a positive future for our country and I feel that our young people hold that future in their hands.

Favorite thing about the Club:
Getting to know the members, watching them grow as people, and sharing their triumphs.
