John Bryant

John received the BGCEC staff of the month for February 2008. His Unit Director Bernard Heyward says that John is the glue that holds our Teen Center together, doing whatever is needed. On top of the responsibilities of his staff position he drives the van, coaches the 11-12 yer old co-ed basketball team in the YMCA league, cleans, cooks and anything else. He is the first one in each day and sometimes closes it all down at night.

John is the ADP Director at the Denton Blvd Club (Teen Center) and runs the Alternative Discipline Program (ADP) for the 6th through 8th grade members. He is also the Technology Program Staff that teaches Club Tech programs to the youth. Club Tech is for teens of all ages and circumstances. Youth have access to resources and skills to help them discover their world, expand creativity, perform better in school, and eventually take their technology know-how into college and the workplace.

Why I work with the Club:
I enjoy working and having fun with the teens. Teens today need positive role models in our changing and diverse world. It is also a way of giving back to my community, to help solve the problems our teens are being faced with on a daily basis.

Favorite thing about the Club:
I love the interaction with kids and staff. I believe that our teen programs better prepare the youth for their future in positive ways.
